Computer Operator II
Quick Apply Full-time 2 days ago Full Job Description Data Management seeks an experienced mainframe computer operator to provide system operator support.
The person in this role monitors system operation, identifies conflicts and makes required adjustments in the short-term to schedule to resolve difficulties.
This position processes system output for distribution to operational departments and provides system maintenance as required.
Duties and
Responsibilities:

The responsibilities below are performed by one or more computer operators.
Not all responsibilities apply to all employees assigned to the position.
Performs system start up and procedures to include IPL and sign-on.
Ensures system is operational at designated time schedule for user access.
Performs system maintenance tasks such as file saves and back-up in accordance with operational schedule and procedures.
Executes a system history, file status and catalog job as required.
Maintains and makes recommendations for change in the operational schedule.
Maintains a daily activity log and reports daily, weekly, monthly report requirements.
Maintains activity log of month end close processes and related reports.
Performs system shut down procedures to include notice to all users of processing shut down position and ensures proper shut down processes are followed.
Creates and updates all documentation used for all clients.
Monitors clients job schedulers for job abends and triages any job failure to the appropriate contact determined by the clients SOP.
Uses communication skills to contact clients to report system abnormalities or job abends.
Ensures that system back-up procedures are successfully performed regularly according to a pre-determined schedule.
Keeps equipment clean and performs other operator maintenance functions regularly.
Ensures that a secure environment is maintained for all computer equipment data files supplies etc.
Determines that computer equipment is in proper operating condition and reports malfunctions to the mainframe technician.
Monitors system consoles advising manager or client of any abnormality, instituting recovery procedures and following up with application to ensure correct functionality.
Clears equipment at end of operating run and reviews schedule to determine next assignment.

$35,000 - $65,000 (dependent on experience) Shift Expectation:
2nd Shift (approx 5PM -1AM) and 3rd Shift (approx 10PM - 6AM).
There maybe me some flexibility with shifts once in the position.
